Acer announces the world’s ‘first 4K-recording smartphone’

Ultra high definition or 4K, that’s a 3840 X 2160 resolution for the uninitiated, has been the display acronym to watch since CES where every major manufacturer showed off a 4k TV. The race to have the first 4k recording smartphone has been well documented by tech rumour mongers who have had pegged either Sony’s rumoured Honami superphone or Samsung’s upcoming Note III as the first device to market with the new technology. Well, they were wrong.

A 13MP sensor enables the first 4k recording capable smartphone, the newly announced 6-inch display toting Acer Liquid S2. With a list of high end specs including the top of the class 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 SoC, 2GB of RAM, LTE radios and a full HD IPS display, the Liquid S2 is a serious piece of hardware. We’re expecting to see more of the device at IFA later this week where said Sony and Samsung devices are said to be making their debuts as well.
