NASA’s Voyager 1 probe becomes the first man-made device in interstellar space

36 years ago Voyager 1 left Earth on its mission to study the outer solar system but when it had finished the little guy just kept on going. NASA confirmed today that Voyager 1 is officially the first ever man-made object to have past into interstellar space, the space between stars and is therefore no longer in our soar system. Voyager project scientist Ed Stone from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology discusses how the NASA team came to the conclusion.

This great snippet of data shows just how hard it it for scientist to work with Voyager ‘As of 2013, signals from Voyager 1 take over 17 hours to reach Earth.” All we can say is congratulations to NASA on having a project like this working for over 36 years.
