Get uncapped mobile broadband for R199pm

MyBroadband has reported that there is a new uncapped mobile data package being offered from networking company LucidView that uses MTN’s network. It doesn’t employ a “fair-use policy” to throttle your connection once you’ve downloaded an amount of data deemed excessive by the ISP, and it lets customers specify what kind of internet content can and can’t be accessed, making it ideal for parents looking to restrict their kids’ access to the less savoury parts of the internet.

In an interview with MyBroadband, LucidView head Andrew Wilson said that the product is aimed primarily at parents who want to prevent their kids from running out of airtime at inopportune moments, while simultaneously protecting them from inappropriate content. He went on to say that the package is also suitable for adult users, as it is possible to lift all content-access restrictions and allow for unfettered internet access.

As tasty as this sounds, it doesn’t mean you will get download speeds that are limited only by the speed of the 3G or 4G radio in your cellphone. According to the article, LucidView’s uncapped package runs on a “4mbps custom APN from MTN”, making 4mbps the best-possible speed you can achieve.

Still, R199 per month for a connection capable of 4mbps isn’t a bad deal at all, and the fact that it doesn’t employ a fair-use throttling policy should set it apart from other uncapped offerings. For more information on what, exactly, the package provides and to read more on how it works, head over to LucidView’s cellphone data page.
