FNB launches enterprise focused app for tablets

Following on from the success it achieved with its smartphone and tablet applications for consumers, FNB this morning launched Android, iOS and Windows versions of a tablet application tailored specifically for its Online Banking Enterprise customers.

The application doesn’t seem vastly different from FNB’s new consumer-focused and responsive website in terms of look and feel.

That is because, enterprise users are actually interacting with the Enterprise portal through the app, so in that sense, this is a ‘web app’. The difference FNB says, is that sign-on and authorization takes place through native app functionality, and once that hoop has been jumped through, they will be interacting with the website, albeit with a slightly reduced feature set.

What will excite business users however, is the fact that it delivers features in an ‘app’ that were previously only available on the Enterprise portal, such as additional security and dual authorization capabilities, which requires for transactions to be authorized by a second, authorized party once they have been loaded via the app or Enterprise banking portal by a separate user.

Interestingly, the app allows Enterprise clients to make transfers to recipients who will be able to withdraw the funds without the need of a bank account, using eWallet Pro.

Currently, FNB says it has more than 40,000 businesses using Online Banking Enterprise, so it’s relatively bullish about the uptake it will receive for the apps.

To begin using the applications, customers need to be existing enterprise banking customers . They then simply download the FNB Tablet App from the Apple iTunes App store, Google Play Store and Windows Martkeplace and link their device to their Online Banking Enterprise profile.

FNB says the application will be coming to Windows Phone shortly and that there will be a version available in Nokia’s OVI store shortly.
