Zombies, tats and burgers: awesome new Spliced mag for SA geeks launches

Where would be the best place to survive the zombie apocalypse in South Africa? Who makes the best burgers in Jozi? What’s DC’s ‘Villain’s Month’ all about?

I can probably guess the answer to the last one, but the other two are just samples of the many features in issue one of Spliced magazine, a new pop-culture virtual glossy for South Africa which has launched today via Issu. It’s free to download, so you can read it in your browser or via your favourite tablet app, and while I haven’t had chance to read the whole issue yet, what I have seen is really impressive. All very modern design, and put together with top notch mag craft that leaves me feeling more than a little bit jealous.

It’s been put together by a team of SA’s best known geeks, including Pippa Tshabalala, Ray Whitcher and Chris Savides, and we wish them all the best of luck. Here’s looking forward to finishing this issue, and getting the second one in a month’s (?) time.

//Update – Pippa sends word that Spliced will be bimonthly initially. So keep an eye out early December time.

Grab a copy over here. In the meantime, this is sort of what a bit of it looks like.
