Minister moves office to Bandwidth Barn for two day meet and greet

Shared workspaces can either be a great place to network and be inspired by other people, or they can be open plan distractions bringing all the worst aspects of large office work to the self-employed. What they aren’t, usually, are good places to meet government ministers. Usually.

This week marks the exception to that rule, however, as the Western Cape’s Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism – Alan Winde – is planning a two-day flesh pressing exercise in getting to know tech entrepreneurs by working from Cape Town’s top hub, Bandwidth Barn, tomorrow and Thursday. Like most people who ‘work’ from shared spaces he’s open to interruption, apparently, and positively encourages folk involved with the start-up scene to pop in and say hello. With a budget of R50m to spend on IT in the area over the next three years, he’s someone you could do worse than meet.

Bandwidth Barn is on the third floor of the Woodstock Exhange on Albert Road.
