Microsoft shows a 12-minute demo of the Xbox One Dashboard

It’s two weeks before the American launch of the Xbox One, and Microsoft has put together a decent-length demo showing off the Xbox One’s Dashboard in real-time. No canned animations or preproduced visuals here; instead, two of the Xbox team’s executives take viewers through a live demo of some of the Xbox One’s capabilities.

I liked the way the Kinect 2.0 sensor follows people around the room as they talk without using motors, and I was impressed by the quick switching between tasks using just voice commands. Since Xboxes are often set up in households with more than one user, I also liked what I saw about how the Xbox One will handle multiple profiles – people are recognised and signed in by the Kinect sensor when it sees them, and the Xbox One can even switch between each person’s profile on the fly.
