Great free games from GOG

Good Old Games kicked off its Christmas sale this morning, and in addition to offering awesome discounts on already-cheap games over the holiday period, gamers can also get three incredible games – Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics – for absolutely nothing until tomorrow afternoon at 1:59pm, GMT. All they need is to get them is to sign up for a free GOG.com account and, naturally, an internet connection.

Fallout 1 and 2 are highly recommended cult classics that every gamer should play, with Tactics slightly less so as it focuses more on raw combat than story.

New to the annual Christmas sale is a neat “Our gift to you” section that offers gamers a daily gift in the way of a cheap mystery game. Gamers choose from one of three categories, Timeless Classics, Brave New Worlds and Random Magic, and once they’ve made their choice and clicked, a special deal under that category is revealed.

Right at the top of the page you’ll see two special game categories that will change throughout the sale’s duration. There’s a Recommended Deal and a Community Deal; the Recommended Deal is something the site itself recommends, and the other a selection of games that the community votes on.

This is in addition to wide-ranging discounts on the bulk of the site’s catalogue, minus one or two recently-released titles that aren’t discounted yet.

If you haven’t grabbed classics like Dungeon Keeper, the Ultima series or System Shock 2, now’s your chance!
