The “two heads together” pose is a popular one when taking a selfie with friends, but the very last thing that would come your to mind is that this could pose a serious health risk such as passing on lice.
According to a lice treatment specialist in the US, a new surge in the spread of lice among teens could be as a result of taking selfies with friends.
“I’ve seen a huge increase of lice in teens this year,” said lice treatment specialist Marcy McQuillan. “Every teen I’ve treated, I ask about selfies, and they admit that they are taking them every day… I think parents need to be aware, and teenagers need to be aware too. Selfies are fun, but the consequences are real.”
McQuillan advises against head-to-head contact when taking selfies to avoid the risk of getting lice.
