Rumour: Red Dead Redemption sequel coming in 2015

An unnamed source for EMGN.com has reported that Rockstar is currently working on a sequel to Red Dead Redemption, the excellent open-world shooter set in the American West that came out in 2010. The source claims the game will be announced this year, “with a possible release in Q3 of 2015”.

No word on which platforms the game will come out on, but it’s safe to bet that this will be a PS4/Xbox One title.

A Grand Theft Pony Red Dead Redemption sequel has long been rumoured, but this time the conjecture may have more than a grain of truth to it. Last year it was revealed that a Rockstar employee was working on “the next version of a famous IP”, a phrase that appeared in his online CV, and EMGN’s source says RDR is the “famous IP” in question.

Rockstar has never denied that they’d be interested in doing a RDR sequel, going so far as to say in a 2012 FAQ about Max Payne 3 and GTA V that “…we don’t always rush to make sequels but that does not mean that we won’t get back to them eventually. Stay tuned for further announcements about the future of Red Dead series”.

Going on that, hope is high that this new Rockstar project is indeed a Red Dead sequel.
