Hey readers, we just launched a magazine!

Big news from the fire pool at our heavily-guarded secret htxt.africa editorial lab and research facility: we’ve just launched a magazine. It’s ace and – even better – it’s free.

It’s called htxt.africa’s Tech Made Easy, and it’s on its way to branches of popular consumer IT and photography stores right now.

What is Tech Made Easy? It’s a monthly compendium of all the best bits from htxt.africa: we’re a ‘digital first’ publisher, you see: everything we do appears here in this website. But our belief is that South Africa is a country for which that’s not enough. There are so many issues around getting online and the cost of reliable bandwidth that we think there are more people that would be interested in what we do than can access our website on a daily basis.TME-logo Tech Made Easy is a digest of our best words – plus some bonus features – from the hundreds of articles we publish monthly, picked and presented specifically for an audience that may not be as familiar with technology and the options and opportunities available as our ‘core’ readers – ie. you. We’re not dumbing down the site to fit the magazine’s name, rather we’re creating a premium, targeted read which we’re also giving away, just like we do online. We’re a digital first publisher, but now we’re also the best for tech in print too.

This month, we’re rounding up all the high-end smartphones currently available in South Africa, offering buying advice on mirrorless cameras, showing you how to sort out your photo collection, a look at Thief and more.

Oh yeah, and there’s an awesome launch issue competition: you can win a 3D printer. Designed and built in South Africa – just like our mag.

Just like htxt.africa, Tech Made Easy covers everything from interesting start-ups to buying guides to photography to games. It’s about taking the best of our advice and guides and making them accessible to all. And we think it looks rather awesome too.

Tech Made Easy will be available from branches of iStore, Look&Listen, Matrix Warehouse, Kameraz and dozens of other major chains and independent retailers from today. Sadly it’s first come/first served for now, but we will be offering subscriptions at a price of R180 for 12 months, which covers postage. Click here to contact us about that.

Otherwise, it’s completely free. The best price ever. And just like htxt.africa 100% independent and locally produced. We’ll only ever give honest, unbiased opinion and we never, ever charge for articles or reviews unless they are clearly marked as advertorial.
