Vine adds messaging features

Up until now, you could only engage on Vine through sharing and watching videos, but now the Twitter-owned video sharing service has announced it’s adding messaging as a new way to communicate with friends.

With Vine Messages, or VM, you can send private messages and videos to your friends and even your phone contacts regardless of whether they have Vine or not.

To send a VM, go to Messages in the navigation menu, record a video or type a text message and send. You can send a VM to multiple people, but it won’t be within a group chat and will instead keep the messages as separate one-on-one conversations. Your VM inbox will have two sections: Friends and Other. Messages from friends go into the Friends section and messages from people outside your network go under Other (this can also be edited so you only receive VMs from friends).

Vine has also added colours that you can use to customise your profile.

These new features are available for iOS and Android, while no word on when they’ll be arriving on the Windows Phone app has been mentioned.
