Microsoft Office Online comes to the Chrome Web Store

Office on  iPad not enough for you? It would appear that it’s not satisfactory for Microsoft either. In what looks like another move from its “one cloud for everyone on every device” multi-platform attack strategy, the firm has just launched Office Online in the Google Chrome Web Store.

Install the web app into your Google-ly-fied browser and you can launch Word Online, Powerpoint Online, OneNote Online and Excel Online (which was added later than the other apps), simply clicking on the shortcut on your desktop. It may not seem like much, but for a firm whose defence of its IE territory has been so key to the company ethos for so long, it’s as if the ghost of Oliver Tambo just popped up and endorsed the EFF.

If you’re not already using Office Online, head over to Office.com, otherwise download Word Online, Powerpoint OnlineOneNote Online and Excel Online from the Chrome Web Store.
