John McAfee wants you to trust his new encrypted messaging app

You can tell a lot about a person by the way they answer this question. Who is John McAfee? Some will say he started an antivirus company that was eventually bought by Intel in 2010. Some will recall his wild romp through Belize with the police chasing after him as a suspect in the death of his next-door-neighbour in 2012. The question you have to ask yourself is: would you trust your encrypted messages to the man who notoriously used to change his IP address multiple times per day to avoid the possibility of being hacked?

This man.

Well if the answer is yes then take a look at Chadder, it’s a new messaging app from a company founded by McAfee called Future Tense Private Systems and it promises to keep our messages between you and the recipient completely confidential and free of eaves dropping by the like of the NSA.

The app is available on both Windows Phone and Android at the time of writing with an iPhone version already being tested according to McAfee’s YouTube channel.

Unfortunately we tried adding people via their name, phone number, email address and a randomly generated code without having much success so for now it looks like everything you plan to send via Chadder will be perfectly secure by virtue of the fact that you can’t add anyone to send it to.

You can download Chadder at the Google Play or the Windows Phone Store now.
