Register for the first ever Pan-African Women in Tech Meetup

Only good things can come of the drive to get more women involved in technology careers across Africa, but it does sometimes seem like there are lots of small interest groups that have sprung up around the subject all trying to do the same thing. If only there was some way of bringing them all together to share what they know and encourage collaboration where they have similar aims in mind.

Something like a pan-African Women in Technology movement, perhaps? It just so happens that there is one, and it’s planning it’s first big conference. And because its members are so spread out, and because travel is expensive and difficult, and because the women running it are very clever and tech savvy, it’s happening online so anyone can join in.

Organised by Women in Tech Ghana, Asikana Network in Zambia, Women in Tech Uganda, and Girls in ICT Rwanda, the Pan-African Women in Tech Meetup will be hosted virtually on 2nd August at 12pm local time, with live viewing events in Uganda, South Africa and Ghana.

Speakers for the event include Wabei Walusiku of Accenture Zambia, Victoria Mbabazi from Uganda and Enyonam Kumhor CEO of ThoughtWorks Africa.

Women working in tech or aspiring to work in the sector are invited to join in. Men are also welcome, as long as they bring at least one woman with them.

Register for the Pan-African Women in Tech Meetup on the Women Tech Africa’s Google Docs form.
