Destiny beta now open to all players

Bummed that you didn’t manage to secure a key for the Destiny beta happening at the moment? Well cheer up, because Bungie has just opened it up to absolutely everyone! A post on the company’s blog said as much, so it’s definitely official.

If you have an Xbox 360, a PlayStation 3, a PlayStation for or an Xbox One, all you need to do is load up your marketplace and go looking for info on the beta; once found, you’ll be allowed to download it without needing a key.

Bungie opened it late yesterday to give players enough time to download the data, which is actually quite considerate as Destiny’s PS4 download was 43GB, pretty hefty even by international standards. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions should be smaller, since they don’t use the same high-res assets as the PS4 and Xbox One do.

So if you don’t have fantastic internet at home, or you’re running out of gigs because it’s nearing the end of the month, maybe invite yourself over to a mate’s place and use his or her uncapped internet to get in on the action.

Bungie’s big plan all along has been to stress-test their servers on the 26th, which is tomorrow, so the more the merrier. You’ll even get a special participation badge if you play tomorrow, which you can proudly show off on your profile.

See you all at The Tower!
