First look at live-action Halo: Nightfall

Visitors to the San Diego Comic-Con were in for a rather big surprise, as they got to see a first-look at the new Halo: Nightfall live-action digital series. The series has some big names behind it, but most notably Ridley Scott will be serving as executive produced.

“Taking place between the events of Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians, Halo: Nightfall follows the origin story of legendary manhunter Jameson Locke (Mike Colter) and his team as they are caught in a horrific terrorist attack while investigating terrorist activity on the distant colony world of Sedra,” Xbox wrote on their blog.

Have a look at the teaser trailer below, and you would notice there is one distinct character that is missing: the main hero of Master Chief. The focus of the trailer is on Agent Locke, who is a new character to the Halo universe. Locke will also be the protagonist in Halo 5: Guardians, which is set to release of Xbox One next year.

“In science fiction, we’re always searching for new frontiers. We’re drawn to the unknown,” said Scott during the press conference. “With Halo: Nightfall, we’re pioneering a new medium in terms of interactive storytelling on Xbox.  It’s going to be fun for long-time fans to see how the worlds come together with an ambition to attract new fans along the way with what we’ve created.
