Not even technology glitches could stop the Pan-African African Women in Tech meetup

Not event technical difficulties could stop women from around the African continent from engaging in the first Pan-African Women in Tech meetup earlier this month. Almost 150 women signed up to take part in the online conference, but problems with streaming video and connectivity stymied the hopes of many.

Instead of letting all their efforts go to waste, the women decided to be proactive and not let the issues with streaming and connectivity stop them from achieving a milestone for African women in tech. They turned to Twitter for an interactive chat.

Event organiser Ethel Cofie talks about the success of the event and some of the the topics that were discussed.

“We saw how big the desire was to network and to share knowledge that we quickly decided to move the discussion to Twitter and start a live chat. The need to connect, to learn and to share was greater than any technical challenge,” writes Cofie in a post for CNN. You should go read it too, if only for the magnificent Storify such a vast conversation creates.
