Startup Weekend making its way back to Soweto

Startup Weekend is set to make its way back to South Africa’s most famous township this weekend with an event aimed at young innovators.

September is Tourism Month and to celebratethe South African Black Entrepreneurs Forum (in partnership with The Innovation Hub) will be hosting Startup Weekend Soweto to bring together Sowetan designers, developers, entrepreneurs, and experts in the hospitality and tourism industries. 

Participants will volunteer to present one-minute pitches where the most viable concepts will be selected. Thereafter, participants will group themselves into small teams to will work on developing and finalising chosen concepts.

Startup Weekend Soweto kicks off on the 5th of September at 6:30pm at the University of Johannesburg’s Soweto Campus on Chris Hani road. Organisers are looking for 20 outstanding ideas to win prizes and business incubation from the Innovation Hub in Pretoria.
