PowerShot G7 X is Canon’s most powerful pocket camera

Small cameras are really handy, in the sense that they can easily be carried in a pocket for quick shooting wherever you are. But there is definitely a stigma attached to small, pocket cameras, as many think that it has sub-par image quality.

But Canon has just released their most powerful pocket camera, the PowerShot G7 X, which boasts a 1.0-type back-illuminated 20.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor – and it’s aiming to eliminate the stereotype of small cameras not being as powerful as others.

The G7X makes use of a 24mm ultra-wide and bright f/1.8-2.8 lens with 9-blade aperture and DIGIC 6 image processor. “When combined with the large 1.0-type sensor, the PowerShot G7 X excels in low light, providing the flexibility to confidently capture images with vividly realistic colours and low noise, even at ISO 12800,” Canon said in a press statement.

Canon claims that the camera is so powerful, that it would be able to give traditional SLRs a good run for their money. “The PowerShot G7 X offers a photographic experience comparable to that of Canon’s DSLRs – with expert performance and a host of fully customisable functions that deliver professional-levels of control.”

For those that want to do some fast shooting, it has a continuous shooting speed of 6.5 fps that can be sustained up to 700 images.

In terms of connectivity, it has WiFi and NFC sharing, upload all your photos to the cloud (including Canon’s digital image management service, irista) and pair it with a smartphone for geotagging images.
