Create your own unique t-shirt and sell it online on Design4T

Can’t quite find the comedy picture or catchy slogan that your chest desires in a streetside T-shirt shop? Chances are that if you want a design that’s not yet available, someone else might too. And you could make a profit from that.

Design4T, South Africa’s very own spin on Cafepress, has just launched and gives you the online tools to design and buy a unique T-shirt limted only by your imagination and the dimensions of a XXXL chest. Even better, though, you can publish your design online so others can order the same shirt, and you get a cut of the profit when they do. giving creatives the platform to sell custom t-shirts at no upfront cost and let non-profits sell apparel to raise funds and awareness for their causes.

It’s especially useful, says Design4T, if you want to create a shirt for a particular worthy campaign, business or local club.

You can set up a t-shirt campaign in five easy steps on the site, starting off by choosing a product and uploading your design or by creating a design using Design4T’s online t-shirt designer tool.

step-1

For those who have great designs but don’t have any graphic design skills, Design4T says it’s team of graphic designers will be happy to help you.

You then set a goal for the number of t-shirts you want to sell. The more t-shirts sold, the cheaper each one becomes. It’s sounds a bit like crowdfunding, but the official term for this method is print on demand and it’s been around overseas for years already.

Creating a campaign is free, shipping and fulfilment is handled entirely by Design4T, and the t-shirts arrive around two weeks after a campaign closes. A small fee will however be charged if you’re campaign is successful to cover raw material, production, and delivery of each product. The good news is you chooses the selling price and get to keep 100% of all profits.

Here’s an example of some of the t-shirt campaigns already up on the site.

“Design4T was created in 2014 by a team of highly dedicated entrepreneurs and online marketing experts with the mission to make a successful business concept available for South Africans,” the company says.

Design4T also has an online training course at a cost of R399 that can help you hone your online marketing skills and help boost you campaign, but the added advantage is that you’ll be able to use these skills in future as well.

“We’re extremely excited to introduce this new platform to South Africa,” said Design4T’s co-founder and director, Claus Lauter. “Design4T.com is unique in that it gives people a quick, easy and no-cost way to start earning money for a special cause or idea by creating and selling T-Shirts online. The cool thing about this model is that there is no risk for the seller and buyer.”
