Social media plays a huge role in our daily lives, but when two of the biggest ones stop working, it seems like the world goes into a tail spin. When most users woke up this morning, they were greeted with pages telling them that Facebook and Instagram wasn’t working as it was supposed to.
According to various media reports, online dating site Tinder also seems to be experiencing technical difficulties.
The problem seems to be affecting many users in South Africa, the US and in Asia.

While Facebook, who also owns Instagram, hasn’t officially commented on the matter, it is believed that the current snowstorm that is gripping the East coast of the US, Juno, could have been to blame.
Earlier Instagram confessed on Twitter that it was having difficulties, but has since deleted the tweet. According to Gigaom, the company tweeted “We’re aware of an outage affecting Instagram and are working on a fix. Thank you for your patience.”
Naturally, the world’s media jumped on the outage.
