Applications for 2015 Geekulcha ICT training program for teens now open

Geekulcha is yet again set to host a group of young Tshwane high school learners in the upcoming holidays during its Vacation Work program, giving them a chance to learn the ins and outs of everything ICT. Applications are already open if you’re interested in participating or offering your time as a volunteer.

The Vacation Work program was set up to offer training and mentorship to youths who would otherwise not have the opportunity to be exposed to ICT skills such as web development and electronics.

Participants will work side-by-side building real apps as they are guided and advised by mentors as they are trained and learn about graphic design, business analysis and more.

At the end of the programme, learners walk away with a certificate and a new set of skills in hand that they can use to pursue careers in tech in the future. An awards ceremony will also be hosted to honour participants.

The program kicks off on 26th March and runs through to 10th April. Learners will get a break between 2nd and 6th April during the Easter period and will come back on the 7th.
