Joburg’s awesome GeekFest is back again this year

Are you one of the biggest geeks in town? Then we really don’t need to tell you that the super awesome GeekFest is happening again this year. But you already knew that, didn’t you?

But there is a bit of a schedule change for the annual exhibition, which is now in its third year. The venue has been changed from the Ball and All Driving Range to Huddle Park Golf & Recreation in Linksfield, Edenvale. And it’s now on 4th July.

“After the huge success of last year’s event where we saw over 3 000 people through our gates, the epic geekness is moving to Huddle Park Golf & Recreation for our third annual GeekFest,” says organiser Richard Harman of The Dark Carnival.

There will be a Cosplay Ball, a great market where you will be able to buy all sorts of merchandise, a geek quiz and a beer garden. If you are feeling a bit competitive, you can slap together a robot and battle other creations in Robot Wars. Depending on how fast you can plan and build, there is still time to enter you battle bot. But you will have comply with certain rules and regulations, which you can easily pick up by emailing robowars@geekfest.co.za.

But… can you swing a sword like King Arthur?

If you fancy yourself a knight in shining armour who can battle dragons and demons while saving the princess, you can test your mettle against the knights from Medieval Fight Club.

If you need any more information on GeekFest, keep up to date through its Facebook page, or the official website.
