Xbox Live’s free games for May may disappoint you

We are all for free games, because who doesn’t like to play something that you didn’t pay a cent for, right?

While that might be true, May’s free games from Microsoft for Xbox Live is slightly disappointing – not that every other month has been great either in my opinion.

If you are a Xbox 360 owner, you can look forward to plumping up your games library with Mafia II and F1 2013.

Mafia II throws you into the 1940s and 50s as a gangster, and at the time of its release it was pretty good. Plenty of other open-world titles have been released since, so this one might show its age. F1 2013 is well… a racing game, as the name implies.

For Xbox One owners, you get CastleStorm: Definitive Edition. It’s a tower defence title that we have played on iOS, and it was rather enjoyable.

We played the original game, but the Definitive Edition includes two expansions: From Outcast to Savior and The Warrior Queen.

We are just not sure how that will translate into a Xbox title, but we suspect it will work similar to that of the console version of Angry Birds.

Xbox One owners this month only get one free game, but if you haven’t downloaded last month’s Pool Nation FX, your opportunity to do so has been extended until the end of May.

If you have played Pure Pool on Xbox One, Pool Nation FX is nothing like it. Where Pure Pool focusses on relaxing game of billiards with a friend, Pool Nation is all about flash and trick shots. We didn’t think it was that great, to be honest.
