Eskom said early this morning that the probability for loadshedding was low for today, but it seems as though things are not going as planned. “There is currently no planned load shedding today as Eskom has enough generating capacity to meet the demand”, Eskom said in a media statement.
But in an about-turn, Eskom announced that Stage 1 loadshedding will be coming into effect at 5pm.
Eskom regrets to announce that Stage 1 #load_shedding will be implemented from 17:00 until 22:00 today.

Eskom also apologised for the unplanned loadshedding on Monday night, which was caused by a faulty unit.
“Eskom would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by last night’s load shedding. This was caused by technical faults on some of our power generation fleet, resulting in the shortage of about 1000MW. Some of the units, such as unit 1 of the Arnot power station, have been brought back on stream overnight.”
