Facebook testing Snapchat-like tool that lets you doodle on photos

Facebook looks like it’s upping its game against Snapchat with a new feature that borrows from the latter and is aimed at encouraging users to get creative with their photo uploads.

According to TechCrunch, the as-yet-unnamed feature is currently in testing and is currently available for some iOS users.

The new features allows a user to type in text in various colours over photos, add filters, add animated stickers (apart from the already existing ones Facebook has) and emojis that you can resize.

A Facebook spokesperson reportedly told The Verge that this is the social network’s “new place to house photo-editing tool” and that it is accessible via a magic wand icon placed at the bottom left corner of any photo that has been uploaded.

Facebook hasn’t announced when the feature will be widely available or if it’ll be winging its way onto Android devices.

Facebook’s previous attempts at taking shots at Snapchat include launching (then relaunching) the ephemeral Slingshot app last year.
