Light fantastic: National Science Week launching with optical tech theme

Looking for stuff for the kids to do over the holidays next month? The agenda for the Department of Science and Technology’s annual National Science Week is worth checking out as it lists a host of school, community and family science-related activities around the country.

The theme for this year is based around the UN’s International Year of the Light and Light-Based Technologies.

Malls, schools, universities and other venues will play host to scheduled activites which include workshops, interactive demonstrations, games, challenges and more.

Minister of science and technology, Naledi Pandor, will launch National Science Week at an official event at the North-West University’s Mafikeng Campus on 1st August.

You can locate National Science Week activities happening in your area by clicking your province on this map on the South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA) website.
