This beautiful table lamp also charges phones wirelessly

When practicality marries convenience, the end result is usually spectacular and highly desirable, two key aspects in any successful commercial venture.

That’s exactly the case with this gorgeous OLED lamp that also wirelessly charges phones that are placed on its base. As long as they support the Qi and PMA charging standards, that is.

It’s called the Aerelight A1, and it’s an American invention that’s currently available from its own website for a rather pricy $299, which to South African consumers is a rather ridiculous R3 840.67 at today’s exchange rate.

But just look at it, it’s really quite something:

On a technical side, it’s everything a modern light needs to be. It uses Organic LEDs to provide light and has three intensity settings, which activate when you touch the base. It’s so energy-efficient it doesn’t even get warm.

The website says you can expect the bulb to last as long as the lamp itself does, which is around 20 years.

Big-name phones that support Qi include Apple’s iPhones from the 4 model upwards and Samsung’s Galaxy phones from #4. If you’re in the dark you can check out QInside for a full list of Qi-supported phones.

Sure, it’s almost four grand (plus shipping), but let’s face it; you want one.
