How 3D printing encourages artistic expression

This year’s TEDxJohannesburg is just around the corner, so to help warm up for the event which takes place in the Soweto Theatre on 19th November, we’ve been trawling through the online archives for some of our favourite talks of the last few years and we’re going to be highlighting them here in s short series ahead of the event.

Here’s the first, from last year’s TEDxJohannesburg.  An internationally acclaimed designer with a PhD in electrical engineering, Dr Michaella Janse van Vuuren spoke passionately about how she uses 3D printing technologies to create unique sculptures that are as technically impressive as they are artistically beautiful.

This year’s TEDxJohannesburg talks are just around the corner; they take place on the 19th and 20th of November, and feature a line-up of speakers that include noted SA sci-fi author Lauren Beukes.
