Treat yourself to an iPad Pro today

While it’s not exactly a super-low Black Friday special, the Apple iPad Pro goes on sale at the iStore today.

The 12.9-inch slate was announced earlier this year and features the latest A9X chip which Apple claims is 1.8 times faster than the chip found in the iPad Air 2. Apple has also indicated that the iPad Pro’s graphics performance is double that of the Air 2.

The A9X chip is built on a 64-bit desktop architecture which should see apps running a bit better. Apple says that the iPad Pro will be able to edit 4K video and make creating presentations from the tablet easier.

At the back of the slate you get an 8MP iSight camera with a ƒ/2.4 aperture, auto-focus and improved face detection while on the front you get a 1.2MP selfie camera that features an ƒ/2.2 aperture and is able to record video at 720p.

While availability still needs to be confirmed, the iPad Pro Smart Keyboard cover has been created to pair with the iPad Pro to make it easier to type and create documents, while the Apple Pencil stylus should give artists more freedom to create.

Of course, all of this new technology doesn’t cost nothing, and the iPad Pro is thus not exactly cheap. Well, not unless you’re Patrice Motsepe, anyway.

The 32GB model with Wifi only sells for R13 499, while the 128GB Wifi version goes for R15 999. Those who want to use the iPad on the go will have to cough up hand over R17 999 for the 128GB LTE model.
