Cyanide & Happiness’ “Joking Hazard” party game funded in just 27 minutes

Cyanide & Happiness – one of the most popular web comics – launched a Kickstarter campaign for their new social card game Joking Hazard last night.

And, because the internet loves this franchise so much, the campaign managed to reach its $10 000 (R15 9973) goal in only 27 minutes, as confirmed by the game’s official twitter account:

In structure, Joking Hazard is strangely similar to Cards Against Humanity. Each card in the deck is a single panel for a three-panel comic. The first panel comes from the deck, a dealer picks the second, and then the remaining players finish off the comic with a card from their hard. The dealer then picks the winning “punchline”, which scores a point.

The games is based off the random comic generator that allows fans to create their own Cyanide & Happiness comics. But this time, it’s in physical form with a social game attached to it.

If you want a copy of the game to play yourself, you’ll need to pledge a minimum of $25 (R400.21) to the campaign. This gets you a standard deck of  Joking Hazard minus the expansions and extras that are included in the higher pledge amounts and stretch goals. Estimated delivery is November of this year.

Unfortunately, South Africa isn’t one of the selected countries they’re willing to ship to, so you’ll need to make some plans to get one locally.

As the campaign is already more than funded (it’s just over $300 000 / R4 797 060 at the time of writing), there are already stretch goals added to the page. With 29 days still to go, we imagine most of them will be met.

This isn’t the first time Cyanide & Happiness has used Kickstarter to get one of their projects off the ground. Their animation project, The Cyanide & Happiness Showraised $770 309 (R12 317 433)  and has produced an entire series of quality cartoons which can be watched on YouTube. Hopefully Joking Hazard will be just as successful.
