Capetonians and tourists can now enjoy free WiFi and good coffee 1 000 metres above sea level at the new Table Mountain Cableway WiFi Lounge.
If you’ve ever been up Table Mountain before, you’ll know mobile reception up there can be a bit iffy.
The trendy WiFi Lounge, launched yesterday afternoon, offers visitors a place where they sit down, grab a bite to eat and upload and share their photos of the view from up top via their mobiles.
“More and more people have been asking us for WiFi and it’s difficult as one is in a national park and ideally should be off the phone, but visitors want to share their photographs with loved ones and our focus was to make things easier for them,” Former managing director Sabine Lehman told the Cape Argus.
The WiFi Lounge also has charging stations where you can fill up your mobile’s batteries and a VIP room, should you want to host a small group of people or friends for an event.
Snacks as well as hot and cold beverages on the WiFi Lounge menu start from as little as R15.
Staying true to the stunning views of the city and sea that Table Mountain offers, the WiFi lounge has large windows and balconies so you can take it all in.
The WiFi Lounge open to the public from 8:30am to 6:30pm.
