Got a great app? MTN’s App of the Year 2016 award entries are now open

The MTN App of the Year Awards are back and if you’re a developer with a great app that you think is worthy of recognition, you have just six weeks to enter.

The awards give developers the chance to showcase their creations on a platform that thrusts them into the public eye. The upshot of this is that these apps gain massive publicity like last years winner in the Overall App of the Year category, Wumdrop.

Other winners have included the likes of FNB Banking, Money4Jam and the DStv Now app.

MTN Business South Africa’s Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Alpheus Mangale has encouraged developers to participate in the awards as a way to springboard their solutions.

“At MTN Business we believe in the excellence, skill, and talent of the local digital industry, and the App of the Year Awards is one of many ways that we use to support and celebrate the pioneers and practitioners in what they strive to achieve,”, Mangale was quoted as saying in a press statement.

As part of the judging process developers will receive input from the judges who include Head of Mobile at Native VML, Angus Robinson, Chief Investment Officer at MSG Afrika, Andile Khumalo and award winning parenting blogger, Tanya Kovarsky.

Developers are able to submit their creations for judging into one or more of the five categories:
