A MAZE. / Johannesburg submissions are open

A MAZE. event isn’t just about independent games, it also focuses on interactive media, art and more.

It’s here you’ll find stuff that usually gets lost in the hype surrounding bigger titles at events like E3, PAX or Gamescom. Like a game of Polo where the players ride velociraptors, or a game about surviving the apocalypse with words alone.

A MAZE. is returning to Johannesburg this year – the event takes place from August 31st to September 3rd and, while you could simply visit and check all the cool projects out, you could also participate.

If you have a game, installation or a prepared talk that would fit into this crazy event, apply below and we could be covering your submission when it rolls around later this year.

While A MAZE. / Johannesburg has historically focused on this continent, it’s making a move to attract international talent. Founder and director Thorsten S. Wiedemann explains:

“For 5 years we’ve been investigating the best independent games and playful installations from around Africa. This year, for our anniversary, we’re making the call global. We want to attract international game developers and press to visit A MAZE. / Johannesburg to foster sustainable relationships with the African game creators.”

To accommodate this, while being accepted to partake doesn’t guarantee it, travel and accommodation could be covered by “cultural agencies, embassies and international associations”.

Admit your A MAZE. / Johannesburg…
