Entries for the Gauteng Township Entrepreneurship Awards are open

The Gauteng Provincial Government is again gearing up to award outstanding township entrepreneurs across the province in the second edition of the Township Entrepreneurship Awards (TEA).

The TEA are an initiative by the Gauteng Department of Economic Development to revitalise the province’s townships’ economy and build and cement confidence in township based businesses.

Entries for the awards opened on Monday and they will close on 16th September at 4pm.

To qualify, you must be a South African citizen, have a business registered and operating in Gauteng, have been operating for at least two years by 31st March this year, have an annual turnover not exceeding R2 Million.

Entries are open in the following categories:

  • Food and Beverages
  • Tourism & Creative Industries
  • Retail and Finance
  • Services
  • Manufacturing
  • Transport, Automotive and Components
  • Construction, Building and Real Estate
  • Social and Community
  • New/Start up enterprise
  • Entrepreneur with a Disability
  • Youth Entrepreneur of the Year
  • Woman Entrepreneur of the Year
  • Entrepreneur of the Year
  • Lifetime Achievement

Shortlisted entrepreneurs will be announced on the 27th October.

From the 28th October, nominees will participate in a fourteen-part reality television series that will see the entrepreneurs going through a series of real and practical business experiences intended to sharpen and enhance their business skills.

On 12th February 2017, judges will make their final decision and winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 11th March 2017.

Online applications can be filled in on the TEA website, or you can download and fill the entry form in and deliver it to any of the regional offices on this list.
