Honest Trailers takes a chainsaw to No Man’s Sky

For a game that purports to be a rather Zen-like experience that mixes exploration, resource gathering and anthropology, No Man’s Sky has certainly raised a lot of ire.

Over the last couple of weeks since its release, Hello Games’s survival-RPG/intergalactic-sandbox has been slammed for everything from its tedious in-game experience, to promises the developer allegedly failed to live up to, to its less than satisfying ending.

Furthermore, some reviewers who have posted negative critiques of No Man’s Sky have found themselves facing the wrath of players who believe the game is being unfairly criticised. Whether you love it or hate it, it seems there’s just no winning with either the game’s detractors or its fans.

Now, Honest Trailers has added its voice to the cacophony surrounding the game and from the looks of things, the creators behind this series of admittedly funny YouTube clips are in the haters camp. Well, we assume as much, given the title they give the game at the end of the trailer. Have a gander:

It’s a pretty scathing piece of work, even for Honest Trailers, but then as the video does point out that No Man’s Sky is missing a lot of features that “Hello Games either hinted at, promised or straight-up lied about”.

At the time of this writing, we can’t add our voice to the debate as we’re still in the process of playing the game. We’ll be posting our impressions of No Man’s Sky next week.

But what do you think of the new Honest Trailer? Are you one of the many players who feel cheated by Hello Games? Or are the critics being hellishly unfair about No Man’s Sky? Let us know in the comment section below or on social media.
