PC gamers can finally test out Mortal Kombat XL this weekend

It’s been six months since Mortal Kombat XL was released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and this weekend PC gamers can get in on the action, at last.

Before you throw your fedora’s in the air in celebration, we should point out that this forms part of something developer NetherRealm is calling the “MKXL Online Enhanced Beta” over on the Mortal Kombat X Steam store page.

The developer says that this beta is intended to, “help us [NetherRealm] test improved online gameplay and more.”

This is probably the most important thing Mortal Kombat X has needed since its release in 2015. Having attempted to play the game online numerous times, I for one welcome any improvements to the netcode.

After Ed Boon asked Twitter what news they’d like to see coming from Mortal Kombat X next, it seems I am not alone.

During the beta PC gamers will also – finally – be able to test out the new characters console players have been playing with since March including: Bo’ Rai Cho, Leatherface, Triborg and a xenomorph from the Alien films.

The MKXL Online Enhanced Beta runs from today until 29th August at 19:00. Unfortunately when PC gamers will actually be able to purchase Kombat Pack 2 or Mortal Kombat XL (if that will even be what they call it on PC) is unclear right now, but we’ll be sure to update this story when we hear more.
