Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 trailer drops

For a comic that even fans thought was a bit left-of-the-dial to warrant its own movie, Guardians Of The Galaxy proved to be one of the better Marvel films released in recent memory.

Even though it contained awesome action set pieces and an epic space battle to boot, the film’s laugh-out-loud humour and amazing soundtrack of classic tracks from the 60s and 70s made it an instant classic. It was like hanging out with your best and funniest friends as they saved the galaxy from certain doom.

Given the fact that Guardians Of The Galaxy was a box office smash – the film raked in $773 million all told – a sequel was pretty much guaranteed. Rumours about a Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 have been gathering momentum for some time now, which may explain why Marvel decided to drop a trailer on its official channel last night.

Have a gander and then we’ll unpack it.

You have to hand it to Marvel; this is a studio that knows how to craft a hype-inducing trailer without giving away any spoilers. Aside from the all of the features we’d expect from a Guardians sequel – familiar faces, sci fi sets and action sequences – there’s not really a hell of a lot to go on. We catch a glimpse of a couple of new creatures – who may or may not be new enemies – a few new environments and a passage in which Drax tries to comfort Starlord Peter Quill over his unrequited feelings for Gamora.

Still, we would be lying if we said we weren’t very excited for this one and on the basis of this trailer, 2017 can’t come soon enough.
