Yesterday the Marvel Entertainment Youtube channel released a video announcing “The Avengers Project”  in collaboration with videogame publisher Square Enix.

The vague trailer, which you can watch below, is a teaser for an upcoming game being developed by Crystal Dynamics whose most recent game was Rise of the Tomb Raider. It’s also being worked on by Deus Ex developers Eidos-Montréal.

The video’s description states that this game will be “packed with all the characters, environments, and iconic moments that have thrilled longtime fans of the franchise” which isn’t too much to go off on.

The description does go on to state that the game will feature a new story, so we’ll probably be seeing something removed from the cinematic universe.

One final piece of information alluding to what kind of game this will be is the line “gamers can play in for years to come”. Our guess is some kind of MMO or shared world experience. That being said, it is revealed that this partnership is a “multi-year, multi-game” affair, so we may be getting more than one title.

More details on The Avengers Project and other unnamed games will be announced in 2018. Since 2017 only just started, don’t be surprised if we see more teasers and leaks in the interim.
