Twitch is giving non-Partnered streamers a way to earn money

Streaming can be a full time job. The trouble is that you need to put in the long hours of hard graft to get to that point – and even more after that if you want to remain successful.

While the stream that viewers see is part of the job there are other aspects to streaming – setting up, interacting with the community and more.

Until this point however you would need to be a partner on a service such as Twitch to turn your stream into a money maker, but that was, as we said, until now.

Twitch has announced the Affiliate Program which will allow smaller streamers to earn revenue.

The Affiliate Program does not replace Twitch’s existing Partner Platform but rather serves as a springboard of sorts for up-and-coming creators.

Members of the Affiliate Program will earn revenue through Bits. These digital emojis are purchased by viewers with real money and used to cheer on their favourite streamers. As part of the Affiliate Program creators will earn one cent per Bit used to cheer for them.

How the Affiliate Program compares with the Partner Program.

The Affiliate Program is invite only and to qualify channels will need to have at least: 500 total minutes broadcast in the last 30 days, seven unique broadcast days in the last 30 days, three concurrent viewers in the last 30 days and 30 followers.

Channels which meet the above criteria will receive an invitation to join when the initiative launches which according to Twitch is “very soon”.
