Calm down, Microsoft’s Paint isn’t being killed off

You might have heard reports that Microsoft will kill off Paint along with a host of other Windows features in the next major update.

Truth be told the app was simply spotted on a list of features that will be removed or deprecated in the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

At worst it appears as if Microsoft will no longer invest development resources into Paint and at best you may have to download Paint in the future if you want to use it.

Microsoft said in a statement, “MS Paint is here to stay, it will just have a new home soon in the Windows Store where it will be available for free.”

The firm also talked up its latest iteration of the tool – Paint 3D. Many of the tools folks are familiar with such as line and curve tools, and 2D creation are available in Paint 3D. To get Paint 3D you simple need to update Windows to ensure you have the Creators Update.

Paint 3D will continue to get new feature updates so perhaps its worth checking it out if you’ve grown weary of Paint’s limited tool set.

So no, Paint is not being killed off and our nostalgia thanks Microsoft for that.
