How to change your Facebook profile to Pirate English

For those that didn’t know today is International Talk Like A Pirate day.

According to Wikipedia (so take this with a grain of salt) the holiday was created by John “Ol’ Chumbucket” Baur and Mark “Cap’n Slappy” Summers in 1995.

Among the traditions are greeting folks with “Ahoy, matey” and drinking rum at regular intervals. Okay so we made that last one up but it sounds like something a pirate would do.

To celebrate the day without boarding a ship and conquering Her Majesty’s freighters you can switch your language on Facebook to read as if it was coded by Blackbeard himself.

To do this head to Settings (a downward facing arrow on the top right of the web browser will lead you there on the web and the three horizontal lines on the mobile app will get to settings albeit with a bit of scrolling) and find the Language option.

From there simple look for English (Pirate) select it and it hit Save Changes.

Your Facebook profile should now look something like this:

Pirate English on Facebook.

To change back to English (UK) simply repeat the process only this time click Stow Changes.

And there you have it, a completely legal way to act like you’re a pirate.
