3D Print the 3D maneuver gear from Attack on Titan

Most of the 3D prints we’ve featured from Attack on Titan in the past have been miniatures, and now we have a prop you can wear.

It is, of course, the 3D maneuver/manoeuvre gear complete with the swords and extra blades.

Architect Antoine De Hon created this project as a Halloween costume for his son. Despite being scaled down slightly for a child, it took between 200 and 400 hours just to print.

De Hon told us that he would stagger out the prints to paint and weather completed pieces as more were printed and assembled. Adam Savage’s Tested channel on YouTube was a big help here for learning techniques, especially those such as the weathering tricks video.

Aside from plastic and paint, there’s a lot of straps and velcro going on here to keep everything together, and even four strong magnets to connect the back piece of the harness.

Finding the files to adapt for this project was something of a scavenger hunt, pulling from places such as DeviantArt. You won’t need to do any searching yourself, thankfully, as De Hon has uploaded his final model to Thingiverse where you can download it for free. Get working now if you want an Attack on Titan costume for next year.
