Tsogo Sun launches free WiFi for guests

Hotels can often be the bane of travellers but Tsogo Sun is trying to make it easier by offering hotel guests free high speed WiFi in conjunction with AlwaysOn. Guests will get a free account for their rooms which will allow them to connect up to 3 devices to the network per room per day with data caps from 250MB per room per day at the lower end of the spectrum with 750 MB per room per day at the 5 star Tsogo Sun hotels. During the launch I did a few speed tests to check what they define as high speed. In the 3 speed tests that I did, the average speed hovered around 35 Mbps down with around 20 Mbps upload at the Sun Square hotel at Montecasino. The AlwaysOn is using Ruckus technology to offer WiFi on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels and utilising beamforming on the routers to give devices the best possible connection at all times. AlwaysOn is using Fibre backhaul in as many locations as possible to give the best quality of service to each hotel.
