Zomato restaurant guide app spreads to Cape Town

Zomato is aiming to be the go to restaurant guide for foodies around the world and after a soft launch in South Africa that started in Johannesburg the Indian based company is spreading its wings to Cape Town. Zomato provides details of restaurants, cafes, bars and takeaway services and allow for user generated content in the form of reviews which earn users points to level up from ‘Foodie’ all the way up to ‘Connoisseur’. Zomato has apps for iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Windows 8 and Windows Phone and has recently revamped its website as well giving it the same look and feel as the apps. Reviews by users are vetted and approved by Zomato reviewers until they have published at least ten reviews at which time they can be allowed to post review without having them reviewed first ensuring a measure of quality control for the service.

Besides the expansion into more cities (which now number 27 in total in 8 different countries) the latest update to the Zomato service brings a new feature that allows users to gain a following which Deepinder Goyal, Founder and CEO of Zomato says will allow  users “ to create their own trust circle of restaurant recommendations. This should help our users to zero in on their next dining destination more easily.”
