SA writer wins Paperight Young Writer award

triston_liebenberg_600pxLocal youngster, Triston Liebenberg, has taken top honours in the 2013 Paperight Young Writers Anthology, a project aimed at discovering South Africa’s next generation of writers and artists.

Triston, who’s only 16 years old, wrote an essay titled Reflections, which, according to Paperight, “follows the ebb and flow of human life through a variety of developmental stages, underpinned by her insights about aspects in life that never really change”. A tough topic for even adults to articulate, so even more impressive for a young local writer to excel, especially when judged by Hedley Twidle, a UCT lecturer at the Department of English Language and Literature.
