Shuttleworth shuffles the Ubuntu Edge pricing

[vc_column_text width=”1/1″ el_position=”first last”]

Yesterday we brought you the news that Mark Shuttleworth and Canonical had formally introduced the world to Ubuntu Edge and before the first day was out they had raised 10% of the $32 million goal. This was accomplished by selling out of the initial 500 units of the phone which were priced at $600 giving them a cool $3 million, but that’s where the campaign stalled. Over the next 20 hours they managed to raise around $600 000 only, probably because the asking price of the Ubuntu Edge went to a bonkers $830. An hour ago the campaign was reshuffled giving users the chance to pick up an Ubuntu Edge a lot cheaper than $830, in fact right now one can be bought for as little as $625. The pricing tiers have limited numbers of units available and the price will increase over time as the tiers start to be snapped up.

So if you’re looking for a phone with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage that runs Android and a full desktop OS, then you better get in on the Ubuntu Edge race before the price gets too high.
