LG’s newest all-in-one PC is wider than you’d expect

It seems that adding ultra to anything is fashionable, these days. First there was HDTV which became Ultra HDTV (instead of the awkwardly named 4K). And now there are ultra widescreen displays. To be fair, these have existed for some time now but LG has taken things to a more practical level with its newest all-in-once PC.

The Ultrawide All-in-One PC has, as its name says, an ultrawide display. Where regular widescreen displays, like those on laptops and HDTVs, have an aspect ratio of 16:9, an ultrawide display has an aspect ratio of 21:9. So when you have an Excel spreadsheet open you’ll see many more columns, but still the same number of rows.

LG’s release is a bit thin on details, and it doesn’t say what the resolution of the display is – but chances are that it’s something people won’t be used to, and games will have a problem supporting. But movies will look fantastic – especially those filmed in the cinematic aspect ratio this supports.
