News about the news this morning, and Cape Town startup Afrozaar is circulating a press release to confirm that the Telegraph Media Group is adopting its Baobab Suite publishing platform to power the websites and mobile apps for the UK-based Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph.
The Telegraph titles are the UK’s biggest selling broadsheet ‘quality’ newspapers, and are owned by the reclusive Barclay brothers. The telegraph.co.uk has over 8 250 000 readers a month, and the move to Baobab is key to growing that audience further. Baobab is already used by South Africa’s most popular website – News24, with 3.5million users a month – as well as the corporate sites for Old Mutual and Liberty.
Afrozaar has fewer than 20 employees. That’s 20 very talented and internationally recognised employees.
